About us

Beyond Academia is a non-profit organization connecting like-minded individuals who believe in equal opportunities for academics. Our goal is creating a community empowering academics to expand their career options beyond the traditional academic track.

We believe in the power of networking to identify alternative career paths, and that should be available to everyone.

We offer career coaching and education through a series of events including workshops, tutorials and panel discussions connecting academics with those who have transitioned to industry positions.

Our mission

Educate professionals in academia on non-academic career options

Many PhD students and postdocs feel that academia is their only career option. Our goal is to help them explore all their options in an honest and low-pressure environment. 

Help academics translate their skills and knowledge into industrial skills

Lab-based academics acquire highly valuable skills during their training, but often believe those skills only apply to academia. Our aim is to help people see beyond. 

Accompany skilled academics on their transition outside of the academic race

It is through contacts and networks that you get a job in your industry. We offer the opportunity to connect with vocational industry mentors to access professional insights, where our mentees get a committed interlocutor, who can be a valuable reference and door opener to the labor market.
